NGC works with artists and community groups on projects that commission public artworks and engage people from those communities.

50 apples (for Hartley Wood) saw NGC and artists, Alec Finlay, creating a public artwork for the Hartley Wood housing estate in Pennywell, Sunderland.  50 apples (for Hartley Wood) was commissioned by Gentoo Sunderland.

‘Shakti’, which means power and is a synonym for women in Hindi, explores the theme of love and how the power of love works within relationships.  ‘Shakti’ is a project initiated by minority led women’s health organisation, Sangini, and presents artworks developed and produced by women working with glass artist Theresa Easton.  This project took place at National Glass Centre and is supported by the Northern Rock Foundation, Arts Council England, Sherburn House Charity and Hadrian Trust.

Alongside this exhibition Theresa Easton presents her recent works in glass.  With a background in print making, Theresa has recently started to print on a range of materials, including glass.
