Chris Blade (Head of Enterprise at National Glass Centre) discusses his expedition to the high Arctic. Chris was one of 28 lucky artists, selected from over 300 applicants, to be invited by the New York arts charity The Arctic Circle to join an artistic expedition on a wooden tall ship around Svalbard. Svalbard is Norwegian archipelago half way between the northern most part of mainland Norway and the North Pole covering about 66,000sq km. Chris will talk about his large scale, panoramic photographic project, which will be on display at National Glass Centre and which he eventually intends to use to inform the production of a series of glass sculptures. Chris will also talk about some of his other travels and work in the glass field. chrisblade.com
