Arrived after a long journey yesterday - didn't quite go according to plan, but then best laid plans and all that...

The 20 minute! commute to work this morning was something to savour - Vaparetto to St Mark's square and a 10 minute walk to the gallery. We arrived at the same time as Sergio and Gabriela, they'd been busy unloading this morning, Sergio worked his magic and managed to get another shipper to deliver to the island (I was a little panicked yesterday) so Sarah is cracking on and busy unpacking Paul Noble's ceramics.

Rose arrived around sixish yesterday evening and very kindly met us at the Lido at midnight, the apartment is a 5 minute walk from the Water bus stop and then another 5 minutes to the beach. We all had breakfast together this morning after Sarah and I made a trip to the supermarket.

Rose has gone to meet Caterina on Murano to talk with the master blower who'll be making the reticello jar tomorrow. I think Sarah will go with her tomorrow to take pictures of it being made.

The apartment block is just perfect and will be great for everyone staying together - much more sociable.
First installment - there's a lot of drilling going on... and getting a bit noisy. I am going to get Sarah a sandwich. I think the next few days I will be the gofer! Will forward some images later, g

PS Cerith's work arrived in one piece.

and the weather is glorious!
