Cohesion Glassmakers Network
Cohesion is the network for glassmakers. Originating in the North of England it is sponsored by the City of Sunderland.
The aim of Cohesion is to assist and support glass businesses and practitioners to develop their skills, to create new opportunities and to promote the quality and diversity of their work to wider markets.
Glass Association
The Glass Association was founded in England in 1983 at the Stourbridge College of Art, and it is a registered charity (no. 326602). The association was established in order to promote the understanding and appreciation of glass and glass-making method: and to generally increase public interest in the whole subject of glass.
Peter Layton / LGW
Peter Layton's London Glassblowing is a hot glass studio focused on the creation and display of contemporary glass art. The studio has a reputation as one of Europe's leading glassmaking workshops with a particular flair for the use of colour, form and texture.
Guild of Glass Engravers
The Guild of Glass Engravers was founded in 1975 by a small group of British engravers who were keen to establish a professional body for this art form. The primary aims of the Guild are to promote the highest standards of creative design and craftsmanship in glass engraving.

Northlands Creative Glass
North Lands Creative Glass is situated in Lybster, a small fishing village on the North East Coast of Scotland. Established in 1971, we are an independent body funded by the Arts Council England, responsible for promoting fine craftsmanship, encouraging high standards and increasing public awareness of contemporary crafts and applied arts.

Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens
Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens features paintings and Victorian masterpieces as well as artefacts from the four corners of the world. The stunning Winter Gardens stimulates the senses with over 1,500 flowers and plants brought together in a spectacular showcase of the world's natural beauty.
St Peter's Church
In 674 AD the art of glass making first appeared in the UK. One of the oldest churches in Britain, Benedict Biscop brought glaziers from Gaul (France) to created the windows for the church establishing Monkwearmouth as the birthplace of British stained glass.
Glass Art Society
The Glass Art Society (GAS) is an international nonprofit organization founded in 1971 whose purpose is to encourage excellence, to advance education, to promote the appreciation and development of the glass arts, and to support the worldwide community of artists who work with glass. GAS members are artists, students, educators, collectors, gallery and museum personnel, writers, and critics, among others. Membership is open to anyone interested in glass art.
Andrea Walsh
Andrea works with bone china clay combined with paper to create vessels which are each unique yet compliment each other as a series of works. Using a slipcasting technique the paper behaves as a strengthener enabling her to achieve an extremely fine shell of clay. Through controlled firing the clay begins to vitrify and the forms become fluid as they start to slump and distort whilst in the kiln.
Maggie Williams
Maggie Williams is a glass designer-maker based in the East Midlands. She started glassblowing only three years ago during a Ceramics and Glass BA at DeMontfort University, which she started aged 50! Since then she has completed a post graduate year at the International Glass Centre and is now artist in residence at DeMontfort University, whilst continuing to make her own work.
The British Society of Master Glass Painters
The British Society of Master Glass Painters, founded in 1921, is Britain's only organization devoted exclusively to the art and craft of stained glass. From the outset, its chief objectives have been to promote and encourage high standards in the art and craft of glass painting and staining, to act as a locus for the exchange of information and ideas within the craft and to preserve the invaluable stained glass heritage of Britain.
Corning Museum of Glass
Located in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of New York State, The Corning Museum of Glass is the world's largest glass museum, featuring 35 centuries of glass artistry, live glassblowing demonstrations, Make Your Own Glass experiences for all ages and an international GlassMarket. It is also home to the Rakow Research Library, which is the library of record on glass and glassmaking, and The Studio, a highly respected glassmaking school.

'Explore England’s Past’ provides free access to 1000s of local history resources including images, transcribed wills and documents and town trails.
In County Durham two projects chart the history of the city of Sunderland. Website resources include images of Hylton and its castle and the last boat builders of the Wear.
