Make your own glass apple
Sculpt a solid glass apple from molten glass in our newly refurbished, state of the art hot-glass studios.
These one hour experiences offer you, your family and friends the opportunity to work with glass at over 1200 degrees in a hot-glass Studio environment. With a maximum of only five people per session you will have an incredible opportunity to get ‘hands-on’ with traditional hot-glass sculpting skills and techniques. During the session you will work under the close supervision of our highly experiences glass artists who will gently guide you through all the processes involved in applying colour to the glass, sculpting the ‘gather’ with wooden blocks, & possibly even newspaper, into the appropriate form. You will finish off by creating a glass stalk to make your apple even more realistic! Sitting in the glass artists’ bench you will use tools and processes first used by the Romans and experience first-hand the heat of creativity!
This workshop requires no previous experience and is suitable for ages 13+. Please note that under 16’s should be accompanied by an adult.
These workshops are suitable for most people, however if you have any questions or concerns regarding your suitability or safety then please contact the Glass Centre reception desk on 0191 515 5555 prior to booking and they will be able to answer any specific enquiries.
Completed items need time to cool down and be made safe, so it is recommended that you leave at least three days before collection. If you are unable to collect please let us know and we can arrange to have your apple posted to you.
