Rachel joined National Glass Centre in 2007 to support the Centre's learning and engagement programme having completed MA Glass the previous year.
Rachel's current role within the Learning and Engagement team is to develop and deliver an inspiring and educational programme of activities for schools and families. The aim is to introduce children to glass making, the history of glass and encourage them to engage with the exhibitions through tours, activities and practical workshops. Rachel's focus within the team is particularly to develop a range of cross-curricular activities to complement the changing programme of exhibitions and encourage young people to engage with art to enhance their current learning.
Other aspects of Rachel's role are to develop bespoke projects for secondary schools and to coordinate commissions for schools. These projects are designed to be in-depth and involving, giving students a greater knowledge of glass making and an opportunity to design and make a substantial art work from start to finish, learning new skills along the way.
